Improve Your Chance of Passing Your MOT Test First Time
There are a number of factors that can effect whether you pass or fail your MOT test. However there are certain checks you can do that will increase your chances of passing first time.
Check you tyres tread depth, the minimum legal tread depth is 1.6mm. Also make sure they are inflated correctly and there is not damage around the sides of the tyre.
Make sure there is no extreme damage to the windscreen. If there is, this could need repairing in order to prevent the damage getting worse and then the whole windscreen may need replacing. The chip repair could be done for free with companies such as Auto glass. Check with your insurance company to see if this is possible.
Make sure that your horn is working correctly.
Check that all lights and indicators are working. If not you will need to replace the faulty bulbs.
Top up your windscreen wash, brake fluid and engine oil.
Check that you windscreen wipers clean water correctly and that no damage has been caused to them that may cause your windscreen to smudge and limit your view of the road.
What If My Vehicle Fails Its MOT test?
When carrying out the MOT we have to follow the Government guidelines. If you vehicle fails the MOT it means that these guidelines have been breached and your vehicle is believed to be unfit to be on the roads.
If your vehicle has failed our technicians will provide you with a document stating what part of your car caused you to fail the test. Once the part has been identified, this should be repaired or replaced, we will advise you on how you should proceed and what would be the best option for you. Once this has been done, you can then book for a retest.
